Doctoral Gown, Hood, Tams, Caps and Tassels

Academic apparel is a graduation and commencement requirement at the University of Kansas. The KU Bookstore is your official campus graduation source, and we’re here to outfit you for your ceremony.

The Doctorate robe has the distinction of having velvet chevrons and the front panels and sleeves. All Doctoral Gowns from the KU Bookstore are black fabric and have black chevrons. The robe can be worn open or closed at the neck. The Doctoral Hood velvet panels are 4” wide and are lined with the official color or colors of the college or university conferring the degree. The University of Kansas Doctoral hoods have crimson and blue satin lining. Doctoral hoods are 4 ft long.
