Technology Trade-in

Trade in your qualifying cell phones, computers and iPads to The Tech Shop for credit toward the purchase of a new device. The Tech Shop has partnered with Power On to accept preowned electronics in good condition.

How to trade in your device:

Go to kustore.poweron.com and follow the prompts to determine the value of the device you are trading in. Complete the process and bring your item for trade to The Tech Shop in the KU Bookstore on level 2 of the Kansas Union. We’ll finish the process here and give you a gift card to redeem in the store or online

What items are eligible to trade in?

You can trade in your gently used iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or PC for credit at The Tech Shop. Just find the item you are trading in at kustore.poweron.com, select its condition, and check the boxes provided. Ensure you are including the power adapter and that you have wiped the data from your device. You can also provide The Tech Shop with Administrative access to the device and we can wipe your data for you if you prefer.

What can I spend my gift card on?

Your gift card is good for anything in the KU Bookstore or online at kubookstore.com. You can use the gift card for new technology to replace the device you are trading in, or you could use it to buy anything in our textbooks, supplies, or gifts and clothing departments as well.

Can I trade in my device for cash?

No. We are only able to offer credit to the KU Bookstore in the form of a gift card.
